Christmas on Made It

Good Morning all,
What a horrible day it is here today, perfect weather for staying in and working on some new stock. I just wanted to share this fabulous christmas tree decoration that I bought yesterday from THIS made it store called By Sage Design. It is the sweetest little christmas tree and it was an absolute bargain at only $12.00. I LOVE MADEIT.

A Great Cause

I was contacted the other day by a lovely fellow Made It seller Melissa from little Peanut who is holding a fabulous auction on her Facebook page for Lifeline. It is a fantastic organisation supporting mental illness. Melisaa has some really fabulous prizes including a $20.00 gift voucher from my boutique. Hello Hello,

Finally winter is over.. wooo hooo. I have to admit I love winter when it first gets cold. I love snuggeling on the lounge and not feeling lazy for it. I love warm hearty meals and and nights spent in front of the fire (or heater in my case) But by the end of August I start to feel flat and can't think of anything better than days spent at the beach and BBQs with family and friends and those long hot nights, BLISS! over the past few weeks I have purchased a rather large amount of fresh summery fabrics ready for new stock in My Shop . Finally I have started listing some of the new collection. I have been inspired by bright exotic look fabrics in greens, blues and yellows. I am loving stripes at the moment too so there are a few lamps covered in brightly coloured stripes popping up in store. I am also really digging pastely sorbet colours so there will be a few shades in gorgeous pale colours. Here is a snap of a few that I did last weekend and there are loads more I will be listing over the coming few weeks.. Would love to here what you guys think. Kristen

Does the internet run our lives?

Ok so, today Made It has gone down due to a power outage. All day long it has been down, all day long I have been checking the computer to see if it has come back on. I have read my daily blogs already and all the other usuals on the net. The thing is, I have had no idea what to do with my day. I have been a little lost... Sure, I have done the usual house work, played with my kids etc but there are certain times of the day that I grab a cuppa and sit down to browse made it or check my sales and today I couldn't and it drove me mad.

 My two children still have afternoon naps for about two hours and this is generally the time of day I plonk myself on my computer and don't get of untill I here the first one wake. But today when they went down for some zzzzz's I had no idea what to do with myself, I could have done a zillion things, done some work, picked up some more crap off the floor, washed, ironed anything but I just sat on my ass waiting for madeit to come back on... Looser much? No life much? I think so.

 So I have come to the conclusion that I am addicted to the internet, terrible I know. I think I'd have a heart attack if I actually had no computer. Are we all like this or is it just me?  I am now making myself some new computer time rules.... One hour a day. Lets see how I go. I bet I last an hour!

New Shop!

Goodmorning all.... I would like to introduce you to my new shop LuLu's Boutique 
It stocks accessories and decor for little and big ladies.. I have dabbled in this sort of thing befor just as a hobby to do with my daughter but seeing as times are rather quiet over at LuLu's Lamps I thought I would set up a second shope to see how it goes! I have made a few sales already which is super exciting and I am having so much fun sewing and creating! I will still be doing my lamps and concentrate mostly on them but do my boutique on the side... Really enjoying my crafting again and can't wait to see where it takes me.  Have a great day everyone!

Quiet Times

Hello hello,

Finally I got my inspiration back over the weekend after a visit to my favourite fabric shop... I got busy making some new lamps and shades over the weekend. Hopefully this helps with sales as they have been super duper slow.. I made one sale last week but my customer hasn't payed and I'm pretty sure they don't intend on doing so in the near future. This really bums me out, it happened around three weeks ago too. I make a sale and then the customer asks to pay via direct deposit and never pays... Does this happen to everyone or just me? Would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Any how, I'm off as packed to the rafters is about to start... Woo Hoo I have so been hanging for this show to come back on! Night all. Kristen

My inspiration is running from me now

I'm back,

Today, seeing as it was so cold and horrible out side I decided to get to work and clean my work/craft room out. It usually always gets me motivated when I get it all tidied up and looking lovely and neat. Not this time :(  I've just about run out of ideas. So tonight I have to decided to embrace the quiet and lack of motivation and take a rest. How often do mums actually take time out to rest and do something for them selves? I know I rarely do, life is to busy with children and cleaning and work and paper and bills and some more paper work not to mention its tax time at the moment and I have just finished maually typing 100's of reciepts and other crap into MYOB ready to take to the tax man. Did I mention I hate tax time? And I think its about time I had a rest, So Tomorrow I am going to do bare minimun house work and just spend the day relaxing and enjoying my kids company.. And when they have their afternoon sleep I am going to nap too. Hopefully a little rest will help me feel nice and shiny and new again and ready to face the lamping world once more! Fingers crossed...

P.S Thankyou to all who commented it is so lovely to know that there are people out there going through the same crap as me, and even better to know I am not talking to my self.......... Night

My inspiration has walked out the door...........

Hi all,
I am having one of those times where I just have zero inspiration to create new lamps. Sales have been far and few between and I do think that this is part of the reason. Was I just being spoilt before? Last month I was making so many sales and was getting so so busy, it was hard to keep up with but it was good. Now, Nothing. As well as lack of sales times are hard at home. My partner has been getting very little work and times are getting tough, it is so stressfull. I realise that its hard for so many other families out there as well. I just don't know how people do it. Everything costs so much more and we are making less less and lesser money! Well enough rambling and whinging, hopefully things pick up soon and get back to normal. Does anyone else ever feel this way and loose inspiration? Would love to hear your thoughts.... Kristen

New Lamps.......

I think I am officially the worst blogger ever I have been so slack with my blog. but I have been very very bust with my lamps... Firstly I wanted to show you a pic of the lamp that the winner of the giveaway designed.. Natalie was so lovely to work with and chose this gorgeous fabric for her lamp that I just adore.... So a big congrats to her.. I have been very busy lately getting stock ready for a new shop/gallery opening in Bendigo that I will; be selling my lamps in. It is called veiw point gallery and will feature a gallery and retail space all in one! Very excited to be a part of the action..... Have a Look at this retro lamp

I made this lamp for one of my lovely customers, Lia from Style Aficionado boutique in Brisbane.

It is possibly my favourite custom order to date and I just adore it! Lia is creating a nursery for her soon to be born baby son and she is using all these retro fabrics that are going to look fabulous. Cactus jackets

Check these little babys out....

I call thes my cactus jackets... I spotted some flower pots wrapped in fabric in a magazine recently and thought what a great idea to cheaply make crappy old mismatching pots look a little prettier. All you have to do is grab some fabric, cut to size of pot, wrap around and tie some twine to keep in place. Nice and easy but looks so sweet and so much nicer than boring old plastic pots......

New lamps

I have made two gorgeous lamps this morning an relisted an oldie, I havent had the desire to make any lamps over the past week and then today it was like bang, I'm officially in lamping mode again! LOL I think I am going to make some more this afternoon when my little ones have an afternoon nap. It's so funny how one minute I can't stand the sight of lamps and the next I'm all inspired and can't stop ideas for new ones running through my head.... Does this happen to evryone? or am I just strange....
